Take a look peepz.

There are much repeated information...

http://www.singaporebikes.com/forums/showthread.php?t=202512&highlight=horns

Lets recap after u see that link

1) Why Disc horn

Higher level of water resistance. ( NO WAY a horn can be water proof. If it is, where the sound come from?)

Disc horn is so far still approved model under LTA. Electric twin tone or snail horn still gets spoil easily once water gets into the opening. Diaphragm gets water ingress.. POOF.. its gone. For Bosch and Hella, both came out new 2nd gen snail horn with drain tube.... to facilitate the relieve of water ingress into the horn, thus lengthen the lifespan of the snail horn. BUT STILL not as water resistance as a Disc horn

2) Why Hella?

For those who went Mustapha to see... how many pieces of Hella horn u see vs Stebel one? Answer is pretty straight forward.

Why Merc, BMW, Volvo etc use Hella horns? Why not Stebel, Fiamm or others? If u go mustapha there u see a metalic colored disc horn. That is stock in a Merc, The red Twin tone is stock in a BMW.. thats why in the industry they also affectionally referred as a BMW horn. Then the new 2nd generation twin tone with drain tube. That is stock in a Volvo car. For those who own one go take a look under the hood.

Also... local authority LTA.... they follow Whatever Europe and japan Regulating body. Namely UNECE( or ECE for short) and JIS.

Whatever this 2 bodies say yes. LTA says yes.

All horns from Hella has E1 mark. Meaning has gone thru stringent Test and 1 refers to country of origin and its GERMANY.

Be mindful of fake E markings like E8, E11 and E13. Taiwan & china products usually also have E marks but falls under this cat. Beh Choon Eh..... -_-.

For those says air horn loudest

Of course loud... cos running on compress air... To each his own ( in SG u can do anything as long as u don get caught)

For those who think interaction with the authorities, rather a snail or disc horn is your option.

Another common misunderstanding.

All aftermarket horns must use together with a relay. If not your horn will not realise its full potential. Ie 50-70% max.. .and will get spoil in a short time.

Adding to that, these horns must be used in a pair. NOT 1. If not why they come in a pair? High + low tone will make a full melody. A lot of pp say use 1 enough but sound not "pretty" then complain horn no good -_-... I've personally encountered some frens like tat.

Imagine you buy a car got 4 doors. But u only use 2 doors and say getting into a car is very troublesome for your passengers.... Get the drift?

Oh ... i'm getting way off course.... anyway .. its jus a sharing session. hope this shed more light into the topic..

Cheers

Cannot actually fine a webby with the full specs. Only one that says Max wattage is 72W. If my physics is correct, Watts = Volts x Amps, then 72W = 12V x Amps = 6 Amps.

So just get relays that can support above 6 Amps. You should be fine. Ohh ya, dun forget to put a fuse in-between the battery and horns.

Just found. This is the info

http://cat.hella.com/hella232/jsp/search/advanced/Frameset_ButtonBar_Bottom.jsp?nologin=yes&selectedObject=CS@Hella-USA@CT@F04

I myself using PIAA Sports Horns with All Weather Cover. Not as loud, but does the job. Reason for choosing this is because of the low current it sucks. By right, it says no need relay. Me being kiasu, put one heheh.

Sigh sigh. Called Concorde...they only have the relay...don't have the connectors and all the wires. No kit also. Anyone knows if a kit is available or I have to do my own kit?

Actually do not have to have to exact relay parts or what so ever. Relays are still relays. You can DIY and buy the parts needed in Sim Lim Tower. If want to have a higher quality ones will be at Autobacs.

Or you can buy from this guy. His workmanship for these items are great.

Its simple to DIY.

standard package for twin tone (red)

and super tone comes with the relay.

The new gen Blackcolor twin tone do not come with relay

Wire harness is sold separately but not available locally. In US website there is

BUT key point is .. the wire harness you can DIY.. with some cable lux.

most importantly you must remember to connect to battery instead of MOST of the pp who does jus plug and play

does this horn able to fit into SP? thinking of buying it since my horn so soft dont even bother to horn...

i think the small red ones isn't a problem fitting on any bike. the bigger black ones which i bought may be harder to fit if space is tight.

The older red & newer black ones(snail type), are abt the same dimensions.

Its only you have to find locations to fit it in, not obstructing the sound output direction & also any serious modifications needed.

As for the Supertone Twin tone(Red metal frame, metal type), this maybe harder to find mounting as it is bigger.

These Hella Super Tones will chew up all other Stebel/Nautilus rubbish for breakfast.

I've tried all the other brands of snail-type horns, yes they sound loud - but only to the human ear.

The real test is to have them installed on different bikes, have all of them lined up of equal distance from a BMW/Mercedes/Volvo/Lexus, then have a friend sit inside the car with the hi-fi playing the same track at the same volume, then hit each horn to test it.

Most horns sound loud to the human ear but cannot be heard over traffic, superb vehicular noise insulation, and music volume.

Disc horns are able to pierce through traffic noise, but the Hella Super Tone beats the rest hands down in terms of penetrative power over traffic noise, car sound-proofing AND music.

Sorry to say, I bought the last batch of Super Tones from Mustafa for my bikes and family cars. One shot installed 4 sets... :p (2 bikes, 2 cars)

They are too good to pass up. Some more S$55 per set from Mustafa. Installation DIY = free. Shiok.

For bikes going for inspection, it will pass inspection only if your bike comes with dual tone horns in stock form. My bike failed inspection because the horn was too loud, and dual tone (originally bike came with a tiny single tone horn as stock).

So after I failed the inspection, I rode outside the inspection centre, disconnected one side, and went back for a re-test. Subsequently it passed. Reconnected the 2nd horn upon collecting my Inspection Pass Certificate and leaving the inspection centre.

This is one of the retarded things about bureaucracy. Whether or not louder horns are better for saving bikers' lives, they don't care as long as regulations stipulate that any form of modification outside of stock trim is illegal. But for most big bikes, should pass inspection.

If can MO, please count me in as I want to get for my friend's car too.

Thanks!

ps: PLEASE remember to install with the relay. Most mechs will tell you it's not necessary because they are lazy to do the wiring. But the relay will release the full potential of the Super Tones. Without the relay, it will work only at 50-70% volume. The relay comes with the set of Super Tones in the box.

Believe nothing you hear; and only half of what you see.

Do or do not; there is no 'try'.
