I'm in process of taking my 2b classes now. Wondering if I am allowed to buy a bike before I pass my 2b tests. Can someone help me with this question? If I can, I would get one soon rather than wait till classes are over. Any advise on this line of thinking?

get the license before you buy a bike.

by the time you pass, you will want to buy other type of bike.

if you buy before you pass the chance of riding is high.

offence is very serious for riding without a license and without valid inusrance coverage.

if you really like the bike.you can buy it 1st and leave it in the bike shop or put under your friend(valid license) name.

dun rush, take your time for the licence.

dun rush to buy a bike, there is always a better deal.

ask a few experience friends to go with you to view the bike.

buy only what you can afford.:thumb:

Don't be in a hurry to buy, like tonychan say, there will alway be a better deal.

If you buy now,

1) You park at the carpark you need to buy season parking or everyday put 65cents coupon except for sunday. Can see can touch cannot ride.....

2) Ask yourself can you resist the temptation not to ride it when you walk pass your bike at the carpark everyday. If you are unlucky riding at the carpark can get you into trouble and all your hardwork go to waste and you wil not be able not take your license for at least a year.

You may say you are not going to ride it unless you pass, but you already can't wait to buy a bike before you pass......

Yes you can have a bike under your name and no license.

Forumers above have advised you not to do it, I'll tell you how to do it, you decide for yourself whether you want to proceed or not.

First, you need an insurance under your name for the bike. Tell the insurance company that you will not be riding the bike, and add whoever is going to help you take care of your bike before you get your license as subrider (You can not add the subrider if you want, but you will have no one to help you warm up the bike).

Go to LTA to do transfer. They will ask for the insurance cert under owner's name (Insurance under non-owners name not acceptable)

Find some way to get your bike to your carpark (subrider ride or get tow truck)

Buy season parking.

Everyday go admire your ride before you leave for work and resist temptation to sit on bike, start engine, etc. Pester subrider to help you warm up bike now and then.

Alternatively you can also lay up your ride but I'm not sure the exact procedure to go about doing that.

It's not wrong to buy a bike before you got your license... if you're after a rare bike and you're not sure that you'll be able to get the same model after you get your license, then go ahead. However, I would not advise people taking 2B to get the bike before license, the temptation to ride is very strong if you do not have another (legal) bike to satisfy your desires.

Whatever you choose to do, good luck!

boring rider. with a boring bike.

too old to want to appear interesting anymore.

it is wrong to sit, start a bike/car without a valid riding/driving license and valid insurance.

you will be charge with intention to ride/drive without valid license and without valid insurance.
