when the bike feels lousy...no power..high fc..and you have done all the regular maintenance..time to open engine..At 100,000 km...

Never argue with an idiot. They'll bring you down to their level and beat you with experience every time:dot:

when you see white smoke??

Always ride safely and defensively.

Repair bike cheap and fast,

Repair body expensive and slow.

white smoke can occur when the weather is cold too.

EG; just finish a heavy rain session and your bike was park there throughout the night. When you start , you will see white smoke...

Engine oil will always be black and thick, when you are changing the eo. The colour black is because of carbon deposits, small tiny metal shaving and etc.

Purpose of the engine oil is to lubricate, cool and clean engine parts.

Its looks thick because engine oil having this character of thickening when its at running temperature.(multiple viscosity oil like 10W-40 and etc)

Simplest way to know when you need an overhaul is by reading the sparkplugs.

1.Black and wet(oil control rings maybe gone).

2.Black and sooty(lots of carbon),too rich mixture(need carb tuning and cleaning of airfilters)

3.Whitish colour (lean mixture) (need to tune carbs)

4. Chocolate or tea colur (The BEST!)

Next is by looking at the exhaust colour:-

Black lots of carbon(Too rich mixture or dirty airfilters)

White smoke on a hot day (water entering combustion chamber/head gasket leakage or etc)

Bluish white smoke(Engine oil consumption/Time for an overhaul)

There are other ways to know how healthy the engine is like "compression leak test",but this method just leave it to the greasemonkeys...

Oh ya forget to mention this only applies to 4 stroke engines..

With regular maintainence/inspection like changing of engine oil, correct supply of air/fuel ratio by the carbs, engines can last a very2 long time. Trust me bro....:thumb:

Its more of like if it aint worn out dont fix it..Waiting for it to be broken is like too late, just imagine you go touring, suddenly your wheel bearing fail..If can move ok lah..if jammed!..chialat,where the hell you gonna get spares...Bearing shop is like maybe 50 or 100km away..:p
