Spec 3....is new and more stylo...body also lighter....The Vtec open twice...at 6k rpm and 9krpm

Hyper Vtec is heavier...older...and vtec only open once at 7krpm.

To me the major difference is the price...if I'm ok financially....I'll get the spec3.

- vtec cut in timing different.

- spec 3 with HISS n spec 1 dun have.

- spec 3 is new compare to spec 1.

the rest of the specs is slightly different. but parts wise, almost all the same... ie. tyres, chains, sprocket, blah blah blah...

spec 3 opening vtec at 2 timing... gear 1 to 5 at 6350rpm, whereas gear 6 opens at 7k rpm... spec 1 opens vtec at 7k rpm across all gears

spec 3 has HISS, spec 1 dun.

appearance wise, spec 3 has a sharper tailboard n a clear headlight

spec 3 owners>> does fork comes with the preload adjusters??

Posted

think all S4 have the same fork adjustment without preload adjusters.

seems to me that preload adjusters only available on inverted forks...

If you guys are toking abt the fork that is able to adjust its stiffness, production of CB400 from bol'dor onwards, all can adjust, including specIII '05 & '06

The below are my 2 cents knowledge.

CB400 SUPER FOUR comes in...

1. Project Big One (Launch in Jan 1992)

2. Version R (Launch in 1995)

3. Version S (Launch in 1996)

4. Hyper VTEC (Launch in 1999)

5. Spec II (Launch in Jan 2002)

6. Spec III (Launch in Dec 2003, orange signal lights cover)

7. Spec III Bol'der (Launch in 2005)

8. Spec III 06 model (Launch in 2006, white signal lights cover)

(1 is earliest, 8 is latest)

For non-VTEC models (nos 1 to 3, stock bike), Project Big One is the best in engine performance.

For VTEC models (nos 4 to 8, stock bike), Hyper VTEC is the best in engine performance.

The above are my 2 cents knowledge.

do a search on the forum, lots haf been discussed

vtec

vtec= variable timing electronic control

meaning, the timing of the pistons are electronic controlled. It is better & more accurate compared to normal engine. Therefore it wil boost performance & is smoother at all speed.

check out howstuffworks.

pm mi if i am wrong.

just to correct you abit.. VTEC stands for Variable Valve Timing and Lift Electronic Control.. Its electronically activate alternate lobes on the camshaft and change the cam's timing. In this way, the engine gets the best features of low-speed and high-speed camshafts in the same engine.

Btw vtec was primarily designed for fuel economy but later attuned for more power and torque in its later stages.. think theres a topic on this.. u can do a search bro.. :)
