anyone applied by entering jb via vehicle (not by bus) ?

thought of going in by bike but not sure where to park and how to go to the mac office, since it's at the arrival hall.

and do they keep the photo we provide, or they return it to us?

thanks to Bro Maddog, got my MACS done this morning,

Went in via Woodlands, parked my ride at city square,

then walk on foot to the Iskandar CIQ,( Follow direction of "Woodlands"

reach there asked the "polis man" who directed me to the Iskandar office,

there i exchange my NRIC for a pass after filling up a form ( to be stamped at the MACS), then he directed me the the MACS counter.

Reached there in no time, got 4 uncles was at the counter filling up the forms,

thought to myself it gonna take forever liao, since I'm 5th in line.

Submitted the completed application form( D/L from the 1st post- thanks to bro maddog again), passport and one photo.

Got the form stamped promtly by the officer. Very efficient man.

They checked the passport say OK and asked to wait.

Sat down and read newspaper that i bought along.

10 minutes passed, the officer called out to the uncle to collect their pass passport and make payment. So fast!

Next they called my name, went to counter paid RM$30 and given a receipt

then another officer came out and handled over my passport.

am surprise that it took only 10 minutes, Malaysia Boleh :clap

Walk back the same way and returned the stamped form and got back my NRIC.

All under half hour. What a day !

mapA.jpg

Hi,

First, Thanks to TS for starting this thread and uploading the MACS form.I went down today morning to JB checkpoint and was done by 1hr. I am giving the exact directions so that anybody else can apply for MACS without getting lost.

First map is to get to JB Customs Complex (BSI).

After JB Shell, turn left (the alleyway with money changer) and turn left at the traffic light. Follow the road and you should be able to find the building.

Second map is to get to MACS office.

After parking your vehicle, exchange your IC/Driving licence for a temp pass. Proceed to the green building (BSI) and take the lift to the 2nd floor via lobby B.

At 2nd floor, walk past the offices and cut through the lobby. Walk past the public tpt walkway and cut through the booths. If ever stopped, inform them that you are applying for MACS and have already chopped your passport. Walk straight and you can find the MACS office behind the H1N1 counter.

Getting back to SG.

Follow the route back from where you came. But you are unable to turn right at the moneychanger alleyway. Instead you need to proceed straight and turn left at the junction. Turn right at the y junction indicating "woodlands/senai". Follow through and turn left at the next y junction indicating "woodlands". You will join the flyover and turn right. Go all the way straight to reach JB checkpoint.mapB.jpg

All,

Thanks for all the updates since the inception of the MACS applications.

It just dawned on me that mine is gonna expire at the end of the month.

Does anyone have any experience of renewals to share ? I'm assuming it will be the same process.

To renew of MACS, just bring along your passport and pay RM$30. No need applicaion form or photo. If u do at Tuas, much more easier. At the Malaysia custom after u chop passport before going back to Singapore, park your bike by the left hand side. use the lift beside and go to the second floor. the MACS office is there. No need to walk very far like in JB. Waited less than half an hour to renew my MACS two weeks ago.

Anyone tried renewing at the counters set up in malls ? (eg. Jusco Bt Indah, Holiday Plaza..)

Application at these counters are dead easy, just need passport and RM30. Less than 10 min and all is done.

Very useful thread! I was getting stamped for arrival into Msia via 2nd Link when the immigration officer told me I should apply for MACS given I travel into Msia quite often.

Then heard from another rider that it takes really long to do the application, and there is a risk of bike getting stolen while you are doing yours, so better to get a friend to watch over your bike while you go up to do the application. Anyone can enlighten on this point?

Now already dont need to use white card, think not alot ppl gonna apply it.

This may not be true as the White Card shortage is only temporary. I asked the immigration officer when the white cards are required again, and they said not sure because currently no stock. Info is 2 wks old.

I made mine today. Unlike what you guys have described it was easier. I went via wdlds checkpoint by bike. Filled up white card, chopped and proceed to just after the checkpoint booth. I then parked at an empty booth further up and went crossed over to a mini overhead bridge within the complex. up the bridge and into the office, turn left and follow the MAC application sign. Upon reaching just tell them u want to apply and pay RM30. No need photo as they will use the one already in yr SG passport. Wait 15mins outside den they will come up pass to you. Done.

Upon return, remember to chop yr passport one last time as they almost forgot when they see the MACs page. From then on no need fill in white card and just renew yearly.

Ben> you're right, I had mine renew yesterday for the 2nd time (yes, my 3rd MACS), exactly same steps as you described.

The process is so damn easy now. Compared to the original process 2 years ago (if you noticed the date on the 1st posting)

UPDATE 30 January 2012

Application Location

1) For JB inward side, MACS is across the tiny overhead bridge immediately after the bike passport counterson the ARRIVAL SIDE, inside the CIQ building. If going in by car, It is on the extreme left side at the car lanes.

2) For 2nd Link, counter is one floor above the bike counters on the DEPARTURE SIDE, use stairs/lift immediately after bike counters.

3)Roadshow counters in malls

- Holiday Plaza

- Jusco Bukit Indah

- etc (2 above are the ones i've seen)

Things you need

1) Singapore Passport with 2 years validity and

2) 4 entry stamps in the last month or expired/expiring MACS ---- They really check

3) Exactly RM30 (for one year validity)

4) Not to be on Malaysia's suspect list

1st timer/Expired MACS

1) Enter into Malaysia using whitecard as per normal

2) Get for MACS

3) REMEMBER TO GET PASSPORT STAMPED ON DEPARTURE

Notes on not exiting Malaysia from Woolands/Tuas

(Through experience of bro mamu27 )

- MACS not accepted at Bukit Kayu Hitam for entry into Malaysia

- Exiting MIGHT have difficulty, and will need to waste time explaining to immigration officer

Don't need anymore. My gf applied hers for the first time at Holiday Plaza in early Jan and I did my renewal few days ago, both without the need for a passport photo.

Although I'm not sure if it's only for the microchip embedded passports.

Cool, changes made on the removal of the 4 entry stamps requirement.

One correction though, the photo is not scanned from the passport per se, but extracted from the microchip embedded in the passport. Unless you are saying that in your case, u used a biometric passport. Has anyone tried using a non-biometric passport ?

Me. Still using non biometric passport. They scanned from my passport and merged into the macs. Mine took some time to complete.
