hi guys,

been a SP rider for 2 years plus and finally getting my 2A soon. Took so long cos thought 2B enough but apparently, it's not ;)

Damn noob when it comes to bike but i'm interested in above mentioned title bike, S4 but i don't know the difference between them. I think i got the order right in terms of age Ver S first followed by spec 1 - 3. Can anyone tell me which one more recommended? For eg, FC, pick up, reliability, ave speed, problems et cetera.. Very much appreciated!

Many thanks.

hi bro, we are on the same boat! taking my 2A soon and also choosing S4 for my 2A bike! from what i know about super 4 thru my contacts.

version S: no vtec, rear tire max width is 140.

spec 1: vtec opens at around 7k rpm. no HISS

spec 2: vtec opens slightly earlier. HISS introduced

spec 3: vtec opens at the same rpm at gears 1 to 5, slightly higher at gear 6, slight change in body work.

spec 3 revo: efi, slight change in engine, bigger end can.

there are also older models of S4 like version R and BP (big project)

for more info, do visit super 4 section, the bros there will know more than i do.

Class 2B - 26/03/2009

Class 2A - 01/06/2010

Class 3 - 10/07/2009

Rides(s)

1) Honda TA150 - 20/04/2009 to 31/08/2014

2) Honda CB400 Ver S - 12/07/2014 to ???

Posted

to add on, ver s can use 150 rear tyre also. comes with stock brembo brake caliper.

its project big (pb), trumpet looking exhaust..

reliability for all are about the same.

fc, pick up would depend how you ride it..

Rat bike - A motorcycle not necessarily kept in pristine condition, often painted matt black. Minimal maintenance and mismatched parts often used.

In terms of order

Project Big(PB) - No vtec

Ver R - No Vtec

Ver S - No Vtec(used to ride 1)

Spec 1

Spec 2

Spec 3(the nicest looking one..my 0.000002c worth):cheeky:

FC depends on how your ride...figures range from 17-25km/l

Reliability?

Well its a honda...that says it all:thumb:

what do you mean by average speed?

My average speed depends on the road condition/traffic conditions...hehe..can be as slow as 10kmh(stopping for traffic light) or 100kmh(cruising along the e'ways)

It aint me officer...The bike is POSSESSED!!

whoa.. thks for all the replies guys.. great info.

@gearone: my bad.. average speed.. erm crusing speed? riding style i guess im the kind whose all only on personal transport to/fro sch/work. ain't no chionger. wah got so many.. hmmm 17-25km/L then S4 how many litres full tank ah?

@ahcaibiker: nice info.. where u taking your 2A? scully can go together haha.. btw what's hiss?

Posted

super4 tank is 15l + 3l reserve.

cruising speed about 100-120km/h no problem.

HISS: Honda Ignition Security System. if i remember correctly.

Rat bike - A motorcycle not necessarily kept in pristine condition, often painted matt black. Minimal maintenance and mismatched parts often used.

i understand that HISS system can only recognize a max of 2 keys, i.e. the spare has to be specially made. Am wondering how does HISS deter theft? or does it not deter theft at all?

only keys that are programmed can start the engine. boon siew can program the keys. i think price range is about $60-80.

all of the above are correct, if i remember correctly.

Hi, thanks for all the tips here. I am choosing between Spec I and Spec II, and it seems like apart from the age and Vtec timing, its just about the HISS ?

How secure is the HISS? Does it really help deter thefts effectively?

From Honda's manual:

The motorcycle presents you a challenge to master the machine, a challenge to adventure. You ride through the wind, linked to the road by a vehicle that responds to your commands as no other does...

Yup the price is around there...

for me i like spec1 , firstly becus the vtec open much more later...look can do up like spec3...with 45t spocket my 100km/hr is at around 6.3k by 110km/hr my vtec then open up

i tried 360km for 15L of petrol

so far so good, as long as find a good engine one most probably there would not be an issue

My nsmate rode a Hyper VTEC, he rides it pretty fast to my point of view and still able to keep the revving constantly at 5,000RPM which greatly improve fuel consumption (not actuating VTEC). Which I find it very good for sillypore rd.

HONDA has a name for durable engine, close to 10 years (FU plate) apart from expected wear and tear the rest are going well. Lots of aftermarket parts to support this mean machine.

I May Be Getting A Spec 2 but the tail cannot change to spec 3 tail board?

With Vit M anything can be done, saw a VER S with spec 3 tail what else can't be done? But I does witness that SPEC 3 losing its uniqueness, hence many owner trying to figure out how to spice up their ride somehow.

Overall this CB400 is a unique "4"

4 cylinder

400cc

4 valves per cylinder

4 stroke

it definitely use to be my fav ride... but nowadays I can see suzuki trying hard to catch up in the 400cc department... with GSR and its new SV400 (Gladius)!!

bike is a machine without soul, rider would inject new life and character to this machine

can change. unique motorshop at kaki bukit does it for 200. its the spec3 tail but when the bike signals, half of the tail light is actually used for signalling.

hlc at kaki bukit(jus beside unique)did a spec3 tail for my friend's spec 1 and it looks great. and the tail light and signal lights are seperated. but the bad thing is, all it takes is to pull a small wire located under the bike and you can unlock the seat.

Actually SPEC2 stock tail looks nice itself... maybe change it to LED rear light should bright things up (*if there's one)

what mesmerize my NSmate when he first bought his SPEC2 was the start up, when key are insert and switch to "ON". The speedo and tachometer needle would sweep across, very "cool" LOL. The underseat storage is another plus point consider roomy :) many experienced CB400SF riders can vouch for it.

If you like retro-styling naked bike, CB400SF is definitely a choice... Jap love to make naked road bike in such a manner LOL.

I m riding a Super4 Ver R... R = rare.. haha..

its almost like a ver S lah, just that the shocks are different and supposedly headlights also different.. But my headlight has been changed to the big one.

Overall, FC for me is near 25km/l

I would advice gettin a newer one like spec 2 at least, so wun have the wear and tear problems. I got mine ver R cheap, so got a bit more cash to change brake hose and other stuff.

Spec 3 backlight is the nicest imo.

Overall a super 4 is a really relaxing ride and its a high rpm performance bike, so dun be nice to bike and change gear at 3~ 4 k rpm... Change at higher like 6 ~ 7k rpm. Even so, i always feel my bike whispering to me "Pus*y.. i am made to go even faster, Pus*y"

But Chinese athletic trademark Peak is going very public. In many ways.Quanzhou-based Peak Sport Productswas founded in 1988 behind its founder's deal to produce forNikefell through. Ironic since according to a 2008 Credit Suisse survey Peak now ranks alongside Nike (and Li Ning) love one of the three most recognized sports shoe brands in all of China.Boosting that brand recognition are the brand's 5600-plus stores 95% of them in smaller cities along the nation. The brand's brave (and expensive) moves to sponsor major NBA stars such as Ron Artest and Dikembe Mutombo also assist its profile. The company's 2009 net gain is expected to approach $88 million. But Peak's recent Hong Kong IPO was a setback: the brand's shares closed down 17% on their first day of trading. Experts warn that Peak's profit growth rate is unsustainable fueled largely by recent expansion that will have to level off.But with China's sportswear market predicted to grow by almost 20% annually for the next half decade the Peak brand is well positioned for growth. The question will be whether it can manage the (sorry) feat of cracking America's multi-billion dollar market. It's something Chinese brands like Li Ning the nation's leading sports brand have not been capable to do as well as their European counterparts such as Adidas.

Between Spec 2 and 1, Spec 2 can install mainstand while spec 1 can't. Nothing to do with the frame of spec1. In other words, get a spec2 unless u find a spec1 with good accessories on. Why? Because I would love to have a mainstand on my s4, makes it easier to do maintenance..

spec 2 use carburator or injection?

Spec 2 still using carb setup, until CB400SF Revo which is PGM-Fi... Recent Revo engine color replace too, no longer sliver.

By the way is OEM CB400 Ver S brake caliper "Brembo"?
