Changing workplace from town to tuas so thinking of getting a bike for transport. I'm very big size, 1.85m, 140kg. Dun need to go fast. 80 to 90kmh can liao. Got my licence 10 years ago and have not ride a bike since.

Read in this forum that AT200 is good but too bad not selling already. Is there any other 200cc crusier suitable for big guys like me?

Thanks!

For a cruiser type I strongly suggest the Phantom. I don't think a 125cc can "cut it" for the weight of a cruiser chassis. The only other "big cc" 2B cruiser I can think of is the beautiful Bajaj Avenger but I do not recommend riding it in Singapore or you'll have a severe spare parts problem.

Well kept TA200s can be had for quite cheap, and are pretty much bulletproof so long as you keep the rust in check. Don't buy one that hasn't been overhauled or has been "fully modified" because the stock bike is the most efficient.

If you can tolerate the looks a Honda CBF150 or YBR can fit the bill as well. The CBF is larger by the looks of it, and handles well up to 120kph. It's a Honda, so won't leave you at the side of the road :3 The YBR is quite comfortable too, and both are very economical.

If you don't mind the lack of power a Daystar can be a good bargain for as low as $300 (!!).

New Fire Edition Phantoms are rare but still exist.

As for mechanical issues I purchased a rebuilt TA200 for a fraction of a price of a new machine. Bought a disassembled frame and watched them put her back together with new parts here and there as necessary.

Since such a large percentage of the machine is new, it's as good as new and since we're considering Honda original parts... you could rack up 1000km a week and not see a single glitch. This does of course depend on who is doing the rebuild.

Just be sure to visit the Phantom Knights forum here for advice on how to keep that reliability at 100%.

You're right though, if you bought a 7 year old Phantom 2nd/3rd/4th hand at $600, expect to do a costly overhaul yourself.... and you don't get a massive amount of new chrome parts :3

Just ask whomever to run the engine. If it sounds like a Harley's baby brother with no excessive mechanical noises from the cylinder you're good to go another hundred thousand kms. If you hear metal to metal grinding, that engine hasn't been taken care of.

Oh, and gauge the quality of the machine by looking for corrosion in the usual places, undercarriage, chassis, under the exhaust, etc.

I am about 1.83m and 110kg. Riding a 180cc Pulsar. I had no problem going to 80km - 90km on expressway. Petrol consumption is also very good, consider my weight and the 3 boxes on my bike, my petrol consumption is about 40km/liter.

Now got honda tiger, also another good choice. Too bad, I cannot afford to change bike now. :)

After consideration, i think a scooter may be a better choice since I never ride for so long. Can a 200cc scooter take my weight of 140kg? Their wheels so small so not sure..

I think we should form a lose weight club.

How about a Honda Veradero? That should be comfortable for the TS's height.

I wouldnt recommend a very tall person on a phantom. Somehow, riders will slouch when on a cruiser, and thats not going to be good for the back.

I really prefer tall fellas to ride bigger size bike. Even a Scrambler because shorties like me, cant ride tall bikes.

And if you really want to consider a scooter, then a Paggio X9 should fit the bill. Lots of storage, tall enough and comfy for rider and pillion.

weight shouldn't be too much of an issue since most bikes have a weight limit of around 150kg total.

but less weight, better performance, better mileage. so i support lose weight club too.

i vote myself to be trainer.

February 2011 - March 2012 = Phantom TA 200

March 2012 - August 2013 = Suzuki Impulse 400

Present = BMW (Bus, MRT, Walk)

Definitely Pulsar. Its especially good for bigger riders as you dont get the detached feeling when cornering unlike using a lighter bike. Plus its quite a large bike with a relaxed riding posture, not to mention you'll look funny on a small bike if you're 100+kg
