Helmet buy at johor cheap n nice pattern...lot of design see until eyes can't Tahan...

It's best to buy a helmet that protects your head well. Your head might get more designs if u were to compromise safety.

i have personally shopped at both LAB and Regina. triangle rider so i think i'm still a newbie. :)

i feel that their service is ok, just that you need to know what you're there for. not saying i am a regular there and they treat me differently (i rode to LAB twice when they asked me to come down instead of calling and both times my items OOS in the end. i stay at bkt panjang mind you).

i bought my AGV ax8ds from them and my partners Spino helmet, at separate times. both times i had to wait, (for my agv i waited about half hour till i just eat alone at e macs nearby.) i know about shell sizes and the sponge beforehand, i dd my research on helmet construction online first. but i think

that it is acceptable. i worked in service industry, retail and now F&B and i understand delays. i dont expect my way all the time as a customer. but at least they informed me if it will take some time.

for both shops, you need to know how to haggle and the market price of what you are buying. only then will you find it worth the trip.

just my 2cents. they have their unique business style, just like all other bike shops, but depends if you like it. if not, just visit others. nothing wrong to shophop. :)

you know how to deal with his pattern, you get a good deal.

you don't know how, you lugi and suck thumb.

and if his business can survive for so long, he must be doing something right. And FYI, the amount of stock he carries(in dollar value) can easily wipe out any of his competitors.

Totally agreed with you..

I got quite a number of good deals at Regina.. Even as a potiential and returning customer, they will make you wait..

Unless they had ready stock, it's a frustration to ask something they dun have in stock or right sizes..

Do stand firm your decision, if your model dun have stock or right sizes as they will push other models or wrong sizes to you..

It's your money.. They did not force you to buy from them..

i find it quite funny that some people like the way lab does biz and thinks he must be doing something right, really short-sighted. a bank robber can get rich, so you admire a bank robber? you don't mind the robber taking money that he should not? what sort of fuzzy logic is this?

people involved in ponzi schemes and nigerian scams do get rich, it doesn't mean they are doing anything right. they just have not gotten caught or ppl just let go. lab's 30 years or whatever in business means nothing. even ppl in legit biz, with longer hist and bigger scale can fold overnight - look at lehman brothers.

you don't know the final score until you're dead. today lab may be in biz and doing well, tomorrow nobody's knows. but what i do know is that all it takes is ONE super pissed off customer to take things to the end and everything will be exposed, like nkf. all it took was one super pissed off reporter, everything come out. i wonder about lab's taxes when he doesn't issue receipts for all his items. all it takes is ONE super pissed off customer...only a fool will invest in such a company. and all i know is that the fellas at sim lim lose their biz to funan, i don't see any of them make it big.

biting pt,

you said, "It's your money.. They did not force you to buy from them.." wow, i guess that makes them ok, then? how great they didn't take out a knife and threatened to stab me!

What a bank robber does is against the law. What ah boy does it not. He has a unique business strategy and model. You can choose to buy or not to buy from him. Just because you dont like it doesnt mean you should shove down your ideas down the throat of others.

Anyway, don't anyhow say that Sim Lim shops lose their business to Funan. Its damn obvious that they are damn prosperous. Basically, LAB is like Sim Lim. You don't know how to talk, to bargain, to stand your ground, then you should be shopping at cold storage or NTUC where the price is fixed and you can touch touch the items.

I don't normally shop at ah boy, but when i do i don't get any problems. I talk with Sim Lim people, suppliers, all that, and i can tell you that they business they conduct is roughly the same. Sure, you can go to the Apple shops and pay thousands of bucks for a Mac, but i rather go to Sim Lim and build a much better one for mere hundreds. Sure, you can go to NTUC and buy a bottle of 500ml bottled water for 1 dollar, but i rather go straight to the supplier and buy one for a mere 18 cents. Sure, you can go to your local bike shop to buy a YBR air filter for 30 bucks, but I can go to Ah Boy to buy one for 10 bucks.

What i am illustrating here is that, with certain business models come pros and cons. One of the reasons why a business can provide its stuff so cheap is because they can be lacking in service. If you get good service and cheap stuff, the business is obviously losing money.

Anyway, most of your arguments are about investing. We are talking about buying from Ah Boy here. So yeah, no one ask you to invest in Ah Boy. Haha. If i could, i would sia.

crazydj,

i won't shove my view down your throat if you would do likewise. i believe this is a discussion thread where ppl are free to state their views and you should not assume that by stating one's views, it is a case of shoving it down your throat.

What a bank robber does is against the law. What ah boy does it not. He has a unique business strategy and model. You can choose to buy or not to buy from him. Just because you dont like it doesnt mean you should shove down your ideas down the throat of others.

as i mentioned in my posts, there are two things that lab does that are certainly against the law - fraud and i wonder how he accounts for his taxes. you are therefore incorrect in saying that what he does is legit. i believe there are other posts citing examples of lab not giving the genuine article. the ques is whether someone wants to take this to the end and make a report. hard to say who one might offend. just hope it's not some minister's or mp's son or nephew.

as far as 'unique' business strategy is concerned, snake skin oil salesmen and conmen have been around far before lab, and with far more ingenious methods. perhaps if you can point out the difference between lab and sim lim, we can have a clearer view of what is so 'unique' about lab's biz strategy.

one can choose not to buy from lab but this is hardly the issue is it? we're talking about putting information out to prevent lab from hoodwinking ppl.

if you wish to invest in companies like lab, by all means. you can chose to put your money where your mouth is and sign up for ponzi schemes. there are quite a few in singapore that are legal. they offer outstanding returns.

if you wish to be an apologist for lab, you need to do better than "you can chose not to buy". try telling that to the judge. or can a husband who beats his wife say, "she can chose not to marry me what." i think you miss the point. and as far as the shops in sim lim being a success, you mean more so than challenger? which shop?

your claims on sim lim and ntuc are also exaggerated. you mean ntuc's supplier (wholesaler) sells you just one bottle? of course you can buy from tiger beer direct instead of at ntuc, how many truckloads are you taking? so please make sensible comparisons. lab is a retailer, not a wholesaler. and how much cheaper exactly is he compared to his competitors? it is not a ratio of 100:18 cents. are you saying lab sells a helmet for $18 that his competitors sell for $100? what can you built at sim lim for, as you say, a few hundred? comes with warranty and all? build an ipad for me then. i'm sure you'll be an overnight success.

@TerryL I dont care how LAB does his accounting, whether he pays taxes or not. That is none of my business.

When I buy from him, what matters to me is the product I am buying and the price I am paying and the fact that me buying from him is not against the law.

Talking about selling without bills, have you been to Naranjan Electronics in Little India? No business in Singapore can do it as boldly as he does, yet he is scott free.

Look at Mustafa, so many times he got fined for not following the rules and regulations yet he is one of the richest person in Singapore. Everyone shops at Mustafa including me and we get good deals.

Win-win situation, lah.

You bro, basically save me the trouble to explain this to TerryL. I seriously have no idea why is he so interested in how the way the guy conducts business. Simply put, i want the best deals and i don't care about other people. That one their problem. :D
