depends on bike.

small bikes using 1litre recommended to change after 2.5K. Bigger bikes may last up to 5-10K depending on type of EO used

2T is consumed by ur engine. Better go and top up now. Without 2T.. there goes ur engine.

You can change as long as you want if you diy, but normally when you bring to a mechanic, the mechanic will take around 20mins to 1hr to change your engine oil depending on the crowd...

your question is funny lah.. thats why alot of funny answers...

if you're talking about oil change interval... do go with the textbook answer...

Fully Synt around 3500km...

Semi around 2500km...

Mineral around 1000km...

btw there are alot of people who promote MONTHLY change of oil... regardless of mileage....

i'm a earth lover... though i wont live to see it crumble... lets not waste oil.... mileage hit or 3 months then change....

Some general terms for you... so that u dun kana chop by mototiam.

4 stroke engine: PIston completes 4 stroke to produce 1 combustion cycle. Uses 4T to cool and lubricate gears and piston linings.

2 stoke engine: Pistion completes 2 stroke to produce 1 combustion cycle. Uses 4T to cool and lubricate gears. For piston linings cooling and lubrication, uses 2T.

Gears:

These are mechanical objects to transmit power. E.g. sprocket.

Piston: Some bikes have 1 or 2 or 4 pistons depending on the power neede. There are other engines with different number of pistons. I've worked with 7 piston engine before but mostly are 1,2 and 4 on bikes.

V-engine: Some bikes got v-engine. The function remains the same but only piston angle different. Engine is smaller and lighter, yet can produce more hp than in-line engine of the same cc because it reduces the vibrations (eliminates primary and some other harmonic forces and moments). Bikes with these engine are varadero125.

In-line engine: piston are arrange in the same row. Bikes with these engine are s4.

hope it helps... Feel free to ask if you're not sure..... ciaoz

Depend on your own bike and what sort of bike, 2stroke or 4 stroke. I change my semi syn EO every 1500km for my phantom TA200 even though most said can last till 2.5k to 3k. But i dont like the idea of using till just right. (Own preference)

treadstarter: change EO @ 2.5k-3k. its jus a guideline.

when ur mech is draining out ur EO, u can ask him wats e condition of ur EO. if its burnt means use too long liao.

correct me if i m wrong.

hi all, i have a couple of bikes and have been riding a while now.

on my Honda Nighthawk 250, i use mineral oils and have made it a habit to change the oil every 3000 km or so. That way my engine stays sweet. Its also impt to note that oil will disintegrate as time goes even without you riding so its best to follow your bikes manual for the oil change interval.

As for my Varadero 1000, i use only doeble ester fully synthetic oil and change my oil only at 10,000 km interval. There is to be no compromise.

However, if i have clocked say 8500 km or so mileage before i go on a ride to lets say KL, where i go often, then i will get the oil changed prior to the trip as all worries will be addressed in the change.

Most imptly and what most bikers forget is that sometimes, without our knowledge, our riding style can cause a lil of our engine oil being burnt off. So for those who change not so often or who are ignorant till the last km, its best if you check your oil every once in two weeks. If there is a reduction, its may spell loose piston rings and that may have to be addressed. Otherwise, you are good. The answer to when to change oil??????????? Best answer, check manual, it will even tell whats best for your bike.

Cheers all

Zac
