Just check the original registration date and the COE expiry date. If COE expiry date is 10 or 20 years after the original date, then still can renew. If its 15 or 25 years then cannot. Simple as that.

You are making me more confuse, theres plenty of bikes that people are selling with almost 0 to 4 years coe. i'm talking about buying of used bikes. so can used bike sellers lie that their coe is renewable and he had bid it 9 years ago, but in actual its not, and sell it to you, then a year later when the coe expired, you realise the coe is unrenewable and you will be forced to scrap the bike.

Think u have been con in this case ... u buy a 2nd hand bike from a private selller which he tells u that COE is left with 1 more year but renewable.

Upon COE expiring and when u went down to LTA only to realised that u cannot renew the COE and u have been con by the seller a year back ....

Well sorry to say that there's nothing u can do ... U can try to lodge a police report or take the guy to court but it's your words against his words ...

What say u

Totally agreed with you. 

Anyone with a renewed Coe bike? How does the road tax differs?

For vehicles (including bikes) more then ten years old, additional 10% Road tax will be impose for up to 50%.

That means if the vehicle is more then 10 years and less then 11 years old, you will pay 110% road tax. If the vehicle is more then 11 years and less then 12 years old, you will have to pay 120% road tax and so on until you pay up to 150% road tax (i.e. vehicle more then 14 years old).

Hi all,

Seems there is a new ruling. For bike COE expiry after Feb 2013, then 5 yrs renewal can be done again.

Please refer and comment.

+++

For 5-Year COE Renewal

1) Category C vehicles with 5-year COE that had expired before 25 Feb 2013, and Categories A, B and D vehicles:

The 5-year COE is non-renewable. You must deregister the vehicle upon the expiry of the 5-year COE.

2) Category C vehicles with 5-year COE that is expiring on or after 25 Feb 2013:

A 5-year Category C COE that is expiring on or after 25 Feb 2013 is renewable. However, all renewals can only be for a 5-year period, subject to the vehicle's statutory lifespan.

currently, this ruling applies to commercial vehicles only.

maybe this ruling will be relaxed for the other vehicle classes in the future?

The only reason why I'm not laughing with you is that I prefer laughing at you.

Yup.Like eveyrone said. COE is not renewable if the previous COE was renwed for 5 years. As long as it is renewed for 10 years, the bike can ride forever and ever. XD
