Hi Cub riders! As mentioned in Title, i would like to know how much will it cost to do a FULL overhaul on Spark. I believe most of us here are also looking for rough pricing and good places.. So can those who have done their full overhaul (top overhaul also can) to share the price and location? Don't let future Cub riders get carrot!! Thanks! :cheeky: X1-R riders are included too!!

i spend about SGD530 in JB. it not the cheapest around. if you ask around shop in JB area, most of the quote will be very similar. you will have to go further down for cheaper price. i will prefer to spend a little more for shop with good repute. personally, i not too happy with the job and you just got to live with it.

but if source for your own parts, i think you can cut 40%-50% on the parts. if i have know better, i will prefer to spend some time getting my own parts. it will be fun. below is the rough price break down for your refer.

FZ block and piston set - RM350

Connecting rod set - RM160

Wrist Pin - RM35

FAG high speed crankshaft bearing x 2 - RM300

Gasket - RM45

Racing clutch spring -RM45

FZ Camshaft - RM180

Coolant - RM18

Engine oil - RM26

Labor cost- RM200

i measured the fuel consumption and there is very little to no difference. if you riding the same way as you are before, i don't think there will be any difference.

from my little understanding, big bore doesn't really make much difference for FC. the part that control the amount of fuel input is the carburetor. unless you change to a bigger carburetor or the jetting, it just not going to burn more fuel.

that is to say, if you don't do that, you are not getting the most out of the bigger bore. big bore simply provide more area for fuel/air to burn. if there is no adjustment to the rest of the system, you will not be able to get much or any improvement out of it. you will need to tune your carburetor, air intake, porting your valves, valve spring, exhaust, compression ratio, camshaft lift etc etc. it take an experience mechanic to get something out of it. by changing the block and piston alone is not going to do very much.

further more, for spark 135, there might be a flaw in the connecting rod bearing. the bearing can be damage in as little as in 30,000-50,000km. some think it is because the bearing is not able to handle the power of the engine and the tiny hole for lubricant to enter is not enough causing oil starvation. by changing to a bigger bore, you risk damaging the bearing earlier. once the bearing damage, the rest of the systems are going to suffer as well. you will end up with an expensive repair bill.

maybe that is the reason why for the 2011 Jupiter MX, the connecting rod have been changed to the same one as FZ150i version. it is 1.8mm thicker. just stick to stock engine is the best. if you need more power, get a bigger bike:thumb:
