passed during my re-test. have to attend lessons and exam at jalan bahar (near ntu)

damn far for me as i used to work at changi and have to travel down all the way there

Sometime i find it amusing of the passing criteria for e project paper... "I want the project paper to be not less than 2cm thick" crap. 2 paper+project for the cert..

 

I should have taken the Safety course. With WSWA implemented, the jobs opprtunities like mushrooms.

Actually it depends. I juz finished the course but still waiting for the results.

 

Based on what i found out from people in the industry, Usually FSM is a secondary appointment that comes with allowance of about 300 - 800 per month depending on the size, purpose group, hazard group of the building.

after passing for so long, still not using my cert to yet.

the job can be considered easy to some, as long as you do your routine job, check for fire hazards and all, you should be quite safe

but easy job does not mean no responsibilities as SG check on fire standards are still high, somemore so many arsonist these days.

ur extra responsibility include conducting drills so u're prepared when real fire incident happens.. when real fire happens, evacuate workers, n be the first responder.. if fire too big, no worries.. when SCDF arrive, they'll first approach u..they wanna noe where is the fire, what on fire and how many casualties accounted for.. dats all..

ive tried applyin for fsm couse plus diploma at Temesek Poly but i didn't get it.. really sad... is there any other place 2 apply for the course?

Ohhhhh im rite now at temasek poly doing the certificate in security and fire safety management. Quite tough at first level. Got to go thru alots of projects and presentations (I dun like doing presentation though). The bad part is studying the security subjects and risk management because i dun have any background on security except for fire safety side. Kinda tidious learning security. But this diploma in security and fsm combination is on demand right now can cari makan people say coz itz got dual role to play surely company will employ those with these kind of certificate which can multitasking. Confirm alot of work to do and itz a heavy responsibility to take. Im going to complete my first year of certificate level now (my last exam paper is on this friday). Then 5 months break continue to diploma level first year. Rather tough doing part time studies where u have to juggle between work,family comitmment and other things.

not scdf rite now im working as airport emergency service or commonly called airport firefighters under civil aviation authority of singapore. u can try at a later stage and gain experience,with enough years of experience there's no harm trying apply back. a piece of advise, think deep when u want to go thru this course, required alot of sacrifice. Sometimes there will be conflict between school and relationship. (always quarrel with my gf and parents) hahahahaha...but in the end they understand. Coz it's not easy to juggle here and there. During the course also there will be a conflict between group members where some will try to be a free labour doing nothing to contribute in group projects. Alot of pretenders around so gotta choose the right team members. Try again dude....after gaining some experience...

no Uni here is offering this course.civil defence force conducts this course and its 4 mths long..correct me if im wrong and it costs about $1.3k.most polytechnics offer this course as a module in the 3-year diploma course eg. built environment and design.most factories,manufacturing, biotech, hotels,shopping centres,office buildings require safety officers who have the fsm qualification and it is an added bonus.but bear in mind that FSMs have to shoulder alot of responsibilities i.e looking after fire safety as well that of the buildin occupants and not forgetting u have to answer to govt authorities i.e SCDF,SPF
