Hi Guys,

I am completely new to this, just got my bike (used) and non of my close friends have bike. What kind of services to workshop do?

I have heard of normal servicing , full servicing, tuning, overhaul, what are they?

What is the avg price for each of them (2b bike) ? I understand that the cost varies depending on the workshop. Lets compare reputable workshops.

I wanna know so that I dun get lost when I go down to the workshop and also pay more than I should.

How often do you service you bike?

P.S.

I asking this coz Unique Motorsports is quoted me $25 to change spark plug :faint: Granted that the Spark plug I need is hard to find, BUT I am sure I can buy it online and change it myself for less than $10

The short answer is refer manual maintenance schedule and do accordingly. This refers to stuff such as engine oil and filter, brake fluid and pads, spark plugs, etc. Forget the terms 'normal service' and 'full service'. Frankly i dun see any standard definition of 'full service', diff shops might do diff (sometimes unnecessary) things when you say 'full service'.

It's true: it's more fun to ride a slow bike fast than to ride a fast bike slow. Admittedly, though... It is MOST fun to ride a fast bike fast!

Hmmm never told of that way And this wasn't the answer I was hoping for.. :p

BUT you are right, I didn't think of using the Manuel as my guide..

Thanks ;)

Still not sure about the cost thou. How to know that I am not getting ripped off.

How much would changing brake pads/ fluids cost? (Roughly)

Or anyone have workshops that u can recommend that will charge a reasonable price..

I dun mind paying a little more for an experienced mec working on things that require advance mechanical skills ( brake pads, wheel alignment, gear box, wring..ect)

I think I can do the simple ones like spark plug and engine oil..

But I would like to know the rough cost for this services.

If you live east, ppl will recommend planet motor at ubi. If you live west, ppl will recommend unique motorsport at toh guan.

Brake pads and fluid do not require an experienced mech with advanced knowledge. Any mech that screws this up, shop not worth it.

Gear box is not part of maintenance that i know of. If this screws up, probably need change.

Most important is engine oil and filter. Most 2b owners will change oil every 3k and filter every 6k. More frequent than manual state. Then probably every 12k change brake pad and fluid and coolant and check alignment. And every 24k change plug and chain. Usually this pattern. Probably the 12k also just ask to do general check where he might suggest stuff like valve clearance or bearings depending on the bike mileage and/or his checks.

I cant remember price breakdown of various items. The 2 shops i mention generally more positive than negative reviews so maybe go there find out.

Nice.. Short and precise :D

Thanks

Oo didn't know brakes pads were easy.. Will check out how to do them.. ;)

I have changed brake fluid before, its doable but more tedious as compared to EO..

Alright i shall check planet motors at ubi .

So I assume you stay in the east..

Anyway, price of the eo depends on the brand.

Exp will be around 25-30. Cheaper ones are $8-12, can't rmb..
